George Jones Trophy Day
Great turn-out for the inaugural George Jones Trophy Day. Strong and shifty winds meant lot's of capsizes for the single handers and the Flying Fifteens had some exciting sailing.
Race one had a very short start line after the committee boat's anchor disappeared to the bottom of the reservoir. The race was won by David McKee sailing with Mal Hartland.
The wind strengthened for the second race again taken by David and Mal. Race three saw just Dave and Wendy Jones as the only single handers left with the skill and energy to compete. Unfortunately David and Mal had to retire after Mal dislocated his shoulder.
David and Mal with two wins took the trophy with Andy and Tom Goddard second and Dave Jones third. George would have been proud of all the sailors.
