Christmas Plate 2025

19 boats braved cold and breezy conditions at the annual Dovestone Sailing Club Christmas Plate open meeting. Conditions meant that despite 15 starting race one only ten crossed the finish line. Matthew Sharman from Delph S.C. taking 1st place. The safety boats were kept busy attending the many capsizes.
After race one competitors enjoyed a great lunch of hot Turkey Sandwiches and Christmas cake, curtsey of our new commodore, Alice Morris and her Mum, Sue Walton.
After lunch there were two back to back races. The cold and lively conditions meant that 7 boats decided to stay in the clubhouse. Race two saw 12 boats crossing the start line and 8 finish with Dovestone S.C. most successful sailor, Ian Jones taking 1st place.
In the final race the fleet had been reduced to seven boats and all but one completed the race. Ian Jones was 1st in the last race. With one discard allowed Ian won the Trophy on a perfect 2 points.
